Biostimulator RADIESSE®

Radiesse® is a dermal filler, which includes a water-based gel that carries calcium hydroxylapatite and administered through a small/thin needle.

Hyaluronic Acid HA Fillers (Restylane from Galderma)

Hyaluronic acid HA fillers are best for whole face rejuvenation. Lifting and high G-prime fillers on cheeks, temples, jaw and chin fillers. For lips, we assess and plan a bespoke treatment in stages using a combination of soft and medium HA fillers in a span of 1-6 months, depending on your lip goals.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers (Teoxane)

Hyaluronic acid is naturally appearing component in our body and on our face we use fillers to replace volume and maintain structure as an anti-ageing treatment for our patients. Moreover, HA fillers are hydrophilic, it means they attract and hold water. Hence, it is great when injected on the lips and around the eyes (mesotherapy) since it boosts hydration to firm up the skin and avoid wrinkling.

Profhilo® HA based filler

Profhilo® is the first BDDE-free (no cross-linking and viscosity building), liquid hyaluronic acid (HA) based injectable biostimulator substance which helps to treat skin laxity, boost hydration and nourish your skin. Profhilo® provides one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market. The HA in Profhilo® will hydrate, remodel the ageing and sagging tissue and give you more youthful skin.

Profhilo® forms 2 types of hyaluronic acid, HA and LHA, this combination produces longer-lasting results and intensive skin laxity remodelling. It is a biostimulator the triggers elastin and collagen formation for a firmer and well- hydrated skin.

Profhilo® works in a course of 2 or 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart. It is a hydrator rather than a filler; it disperses quickly when injected and responds with your own tissue to immediately boost hydration.

The following second treatment will boost collagen and elastin production within the dermis of your skin. Collagen and elastin boost will give the skin a youthful, smooth and firm appearance.

It is suitable for patients in their 20s and especially popular with patients over the age of 30.

Profhilo® is great treatment to treat your skin laxity, thin skin, fine lines and wrinkles. It can be used in combination with other dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections and laser treatments.

You may feel a short sting or scratch and you can choose for topical anaesthetic before a treatment, but it is usually not needed. The actual procedure is very quick, taking only about 15 minutes.

There is no downtime with Profhilo®.
However, it’s advisable to avoid alcohol, aspirin, or anti-inflammatory medication in the 24 hours prior to the treatment. Vitamin C and Vitamin E can also increase the possibility of bruising, but it is fine to use 48 hours after.

Immediately after the procedure, it’s important to avoid wearing make-up and strenuous exercise such as going to the gym, swimming or extreme sports and hot steam rooms and saunas for at least 2 hours.

You will also need to avoid excessive sunlight for 48 hours after Profhilo® and wear at least SPF 30+ Sunscreen. It is important to remember that you need to wear a high SPF sunscreen when you go outside to maintain your skin quality and hydration and prevent wrinkles as much as we can and skin cancers.

Some possible side-effects experienced by some people are redness, tenderness, slight bruising, and possible itching at the injection sites, but these will reduce in a few hours to a day and is expected for some people. There are no long-term side-effects as it is completely metabolised by the body and the risk of allergic reaction is significantly reduced due to the absence of any synthetic chemicals such as BDDE.

Results can last anything from 6 to 12 months, depending on your individual metabolism and reaction of the product.

Radiesse® Dermal Filler

Radiesse® is a dermal filler, which includes a water-based gel that carries calcium hydroxylapatite and administered through a small/thin needle.

Calcium is a naturally occurring mineral that is found in the body. It can strengthen the bones in your body and recent studies have also found that it supports the structure of the skin. The calcium ions are used to support the production of important skin proteins like collagen. Over time, the calcium hydroxylapatite spheres in this filler breaks down into base calcium and phosphate ions, which are then gradually metabolised by the body. This filler is suspended in gel and the calcium can be metabolised and absorbed by the body, there is no worry about possible migration.

Collagen is a protein in our skin that is responsible for supporting the structure, volume and elasticity of the skin. Our production of collagen naturally slows down as we age, where our skin loses volume and wrinkles begin to form. A dermal filler like Radiesse® helps to stimulate the production of collagen when the calcium hydroxylapatite spheres are metabolised in our skin.

Radiesse® can be used to treat expression lines, wrinkles around the mouth, loss of volume in the cheeks, skin laxity, hollows around the eyes, skin laxity in hands, etc.

Many patients can see an improvement in volume of the skin 1 to 3 days after treatment and continue to improve over the next 2 to 4 weeks as the solution absorbed into the skin and gets to work. Generally, the results are most obvious after about 7 to 10 days. The results usually last for an average of 12 to 18 months.

The calcium hydroxylapatite spheres do show up on CT scans and X-rays, so it is important to let your primary care physician know you have had this dermal filler in the event you need to have an examination of your head. The calcium hydroxylapatite spheres will continue to show on scans until the
calcium has been metabolised by the body.

This treatment is relatively fast and painless, look natural, long-lasting, and affordable. Also, it is safe and approved by the FDA and TGA, which means it has passed thorough clinical trials. It is considered safe as calcium is a mineral that can be absorbed by the body, make it very minimal risk for allergic reactions.
